34th Annual Electrical Workers Minority Conference

Date January 16, 2024

Members of IBEW Local Union 1049 attended the Electrical Workers Minority Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. We joined over 700 IBEW members from across the country. Our delegation included Business Representative Robin Rodriguez, Director of External Affairs Jerome Bost, Board Member and EWMC Chapter President Anthony Scotto, Member and EWMC Chapter Treasurer Nile Dillon, as well as dedicated members Mary Sullivan and Baron Lyn.

During the conference, our team participated in a variety of activities, notably a Day of Service. This allowed us to contribute to the local community through meaningful painting and electrical work at a nearby Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post.

The conference featured leaders and speakers, including IBEW International President Kenneth Cooper, International Secretary-Treasurer Paul Noble, Robbie J Sparks, 1st President and Founding Member, Stacey Abrams, and former Congressman Cedric Richmond.

Since 1974, the EWMC has played a crucial role in promoting equality and inclusivity within the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, championing equal opportunities and leadership.

We eagerly anticipate future gatherings and are proud of the collaboration and camaraderie demonstrated by our members.
