Keep IBEW 1049 at the table regarding the future of LIPA
Message from Business Manager Don Daley. On Monday, March 13th, Governor Cuomo held a press conference at the State Capital in Albany. I was asked to attend by the Governor and was accompanied by Senior Business Representative Patrick Guidice. Also in attendance at the press conference was Assembly Speaker Shelly Silver, Senator Dean Skelos, the Senate majority Leader, Cuomo's top aide Larry Schwartz, Assembly members Andrew Raia and Bob Sweeney, NYS Energy Chair Richard Kaffman, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, Kevin Law of the Long Island Association and Ralph LaRossa, President of the Public Service Commission. The Governor laid out a plan that would give PSE&G total control of the electric delivery system on Long Island. The plan would also shrink LIPA to a financial holding company which would still entitle them to all tax benefits.
