We are Local 1049 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. With over 3,500 members on Long Island, we represent the best and hardest working utility and energy workers in the region. We are more than just a labor union, we are community volunteers, and we care about our neighbors and our customers. We believe in working safe, and ensuring that our members make it home to their families at the end of each work day. We brave the elements, through snow storms and hurricanes, to keep the gas flowing and the lights on.

We travel, going to disaster areas around the country to lend our union labor in benefit of those who need us most. We believe that the energy crisis is one that must be addressed, and that improvements in energy delivery must not only protect good paying jobs, but the environment and health & wellness of the public. We take great pride in our work, and we are always are willing to lend a hand to a good cause or charity. We are IBEW Local 1049, the people who keep the gas and lights on.
