The IBEW Local 1049 Negotiation Committee met with the National Grid Negotiation Team today. Whereas we are still far apart on numerous issues, we are continuing to exchange proposals. We are committed to bringing back an agreement that benefits all of our members.
IBEW Local Union 1049 had a strike/ lockout committee meeting on Thursday, February 4th that was hosted and led by myself and Assistant Business Manager Rick Fridell, whom has been tasked to assign and prepare our strike committee if National Grid locks its employees out. The committee is a diverse committee made up mainly of National Grid members, but also brothers and sisters from every craft and unit at Local 1049 and working together to fight for our future.
I spoke to the members, updating the group on contract negotiations and urged the members to be steadfast in their resolve. Assistant Business Manager Fridell has since given out assignments to the strike/ lock out committee and has broken the committee up into different groups. We are having a committee meeting with the tech group this week to work on social media and financial and investment preparations.
If you would like to be part of the strike/ lock out committee, please call Assistant Business Manager Rick Fridell at the Union Hall, 631-234-1800.
